It's nice to be back in Milwaukee! I got home to find my apartment comparatively clean, and my cats looking healthy. That's always nice. Put my stuff away, did some cleaning, ordered Chinese food, and did some homework. I think I'll have the first third of the Joanna-centric story ready tomorrow at some point. Yay!

My beta reader observed that I tend to beat up Kirk so McCoy can flaunt his medical know-how. (Though she didn't put it quite like that. *g*) I thought about it, and I'm afraid she may have a point. McCoy definitely gets his share, but I'm starting to feel a little sadistic and I don't want that.

Injury tally (so far, and including fics I haven't finished/posted yet):

Cracked ribs: 3
Concussions: 3
Fractured femurs: 1
Puncture lung: 1
Rope burns: 2 (well, one on each wrist)
Smashed hands: 1
Comparatively minor hand injury: 1 (Sulu's - the only non- Kirk or McCoy injury on the list O_O )
Bloody nose due to collision with wall: 1 (Joanna's - still a McCoy)
Getting beat up by man-bear-bird thing: 1
Shot, stabbed, thrown from horse, bottle broken over head: alluded to
Alien torture chambers, facing wrong end of disruptor: alluded to
Backhanded across the jaw: at least four times
Chickenpox: 1
Cold/flu: 3
Black eye: 1
"minor lacerations and contusions": 1 instance mentioned, probably many in actual fact
Exploding arrows: 1
Whatever the hell happened to McCoy in "Hold On"
Velociraptor bite: not yet!

Okay, so maybe I am a little vicious. O_o And my fics aren't that graphic at all. I'm trying to remember if I was this mean to any of my other OTPs. I seem to recall being not-so-nice to Lance when I wrote "Voltron" fic. (I always liked the part when Keith or his OC girlfriend got to say, "I told you so.")

Tough love, man.

Anyway!

space-wrapped fic continues apace. It's already twice as long as I'd anticipated, and growing. And I still have to start my yuletide fic, but at least I know what that one's about.

Have I mentioned that it's kind of good to be back? I do miss the doggies, but my cat just sort of draped herself across my arms while I was typing earlier, and started purring her little heart out. Awww.
