Harry/Draco: A Ghost in the Garden

hd-erised reveals are up, so I can claim the fic I wrote for the fest now! This was a pinch-hit, and I'm really honored the mods took the chance on me to come up with something in a couple weeks, because this exchange fest is just freaking loaded with an absurd amount of talent. If you're looking for some fanfic to read, you could not do any better anywhere ( Read more... )

Wow, you wrote that as a pinch-hit? (While taking care of a five year old?) I just read that story last night, and completely loved it. Nothing about it felt rushed or unfinished, either. Hats off to you!

(I kind of don't want to look at reveals yet because I still have so many fics left to read.... I had a back-up from reading for Pet Fair, which was backed up from HP Drizzle... First time I've tried to write for so many in a row, I'm a slow writer.)

You are so kind! Thank you!! Yeah, it was a pinch hit, but to be fair I have been marinating a Draco and his ghost story for a long time, and I had the bones of the dragon/Wales part because I cut it out of a different story when it didn't work. I felt like maybe the house party and beyond felt rushed, but I felt like I was rushing, so it's good to hear that it doesn't feel that way looking in on it ( ... )

Oh yeah, I marinate and save bits and tweak them later to fit a prompt (or plant a prompt they can be fitted to), but even so it takes me awhile to pull things together.

The house party had all the lovely hippogriff stuff with Pansy and Millicent and Greg. I have soft spots for both Greg and Millicent, and I really like how you put them together.

I do understand writing as a haven/respite from difficult situations sometimes too - I had several worries when I was finishing up my fic, but most of them (aside from national electoral ones) have been resolved well. I'm so glad your son is doing better, and wish the best to you both!

Those national election ones are not going away anytime soon. UGH. It definitely crept into my story!

Thank you, again. <333
