The opera hall was vast, empty, and the footsteps of Adel's entry echoed as he closed the doors behind himself and his guest. They were quickly plunged into total darkness--darkness Adel breathed in deeply, eyes closed, entire consciousness focused on the expanse of the room.
In mere hours, the room would be filled with screaming fools and true fans alike, their cheers ringing for the band, for Amber Sweet, for Mag, and then--finally--for himself. The perfect finale.
"This is the very place we all begin," he near-whispered to the young girl. "These seats." With a flourish, Adel flipped a breaker switch, drenching the room in yellowed electric light.
"Welcome to the opera, Grell."
