July meme, Days 23 to 30

Jul 30, 2021 06:36

My flist is very, very quiet at the moment. I think that's why I keep forgetting to post myself... Well, that and the beautiful weather which lures me out of the house each morning.

However, I'm feeling lazy this morning and unwilling to start my day, so...

23. How long does it take for you to fall asleep at night?
Not long. I read and usually fall asleep after a page or two. Although, if I'm reading something particularly gripping and exciting... I can be awake for hours and have to force myself to put the book down *g*

24. What's the first thing you do when you get on the computer?
First thing in the morning - open email and Firefox, check email and LJ. At other times, I don't do the LJ bit.

25. What's one item that you wish you owned right now?
I would like to own an electric car. But my current car is low emission and is still doing fine, so I'll wait until the prices come down a bit more.

26. Do you like makeup?
Not particularly. It's more fuss than I am interested in.

27. Which celebrity death(s) affected you most?
Like kazzy_cee I had to correct the grammar of this question.
I was kind of sad when David Bowie died. But I'm not really interested enough in any celebrities to be that bothered by their lives or deaths, except in a vague they-were-another-human-being sort of way.

28. Musician you would like to see live if you had the chance?
Not really a music person. I don't enjoy big, stadium concerts and I don't know any artists who would play small venues.

29. Have you ever met an online friend in real life?
Yes. My best friend sparrow2000 was originally an online friend before we soon discovered we lived only an hour and a half's drive apart. Plus, writerconuk, which Sparrow and I first went to together, led to us meeting any number of online friends.

30. What would you miss most if you moved from the area you currently live in?
The people I know.

And I'm posting tomorrow's question, too, just because it looked lonely there, all by itself *g*

31. Have you ever cried in school?
Goodness, I don't remember that. I do remember once doing my best not to cry while being loomed over by a rather larger girl who was threatening me when I was a rather small-for-my-age eleven year old.

That's the end of July. We're on the doorstep of August already. *shakes head* I wonder how this last year will be assessed and analysed by historians in fifty years or so. The 1918/19 pandemic has been largely lost from public awareness, coming as it did in the wake of the First World War, although it killed more people than both world wars combined. I suspect that this one will be endlessly chewed over, with anniversaries marked and government tactics dissected. I wonder whether any of that will be converted into plans and precautions by politicians, though. Thank goodness for the scientists who had already been planning for the need for vaccines to combat some new variation on a corona virus.
