October Meme, Day 2

I am sitting here trying to galvanise myself into action (success rate so far? Zilch. Possibly less than that.) So while I prevaricate, here's day two of the meme.

2. What do you like most about autumn?Autumn's a pretty season. The colours as the leaves turn are wonderful. And it's lovely when we get an Indian Summer in October

Once I decide it really is autumn, no point in bemoaning that it was almost never warm enough this summer to wear my lightest summer clothes, I actually quite like getting the warmer clothes out and swapping summer shoes for my boots. Also getting out the hot chocolate and the slow cooker :)

I miss bonfire night. With local bonfires that we stood around and threw stuff onto, baking potatoes in them, and Mum bringing out sausage rolls for us to eat as our bonfire was on the waste land beside the house next door, and so close to our kitchen! And the families from the oldest part of the town (long since demolished) lived in tight streets and lanes and so held their bonfires down on the beach, so we used to go down that way when our own was dying out, to see theirs, too.

I'm still in denial *g* But eventually I will have to accept (possibly gracelessly *g*)

Yes, that is similar to the bonfire night I remember.

I don't much like the long, dark, freezing days ahead but the Fall colors are lovely. It's great weather for reading and catching up on s movies on the DVR.

I am going to miss the long summer days too. It will get dark before 5 PM during winter and I am not looking forward to that.
