I am currently wearing a 36B-sized bra. A simple magenta one with no pads and no wires, to stir your imagination a little bit more.
Did you think about Breast Cancer today?
I am relating this to the viral going around Facebook: a meme that is now very popular on the social networking site where women post their bra colors because it apparently raises breast cancer awareness and that according to the message I received on my inbox, "it will be fun to see how long it takes before the men will wonder why all the girls have a colour in their status! ha ha."
It is laudatory to note that, according to the Washington Post, this fad sent an outpouring of donations to many Breast Cancer funds around the world. It is a good thing to remind people that by doing something seemingly irrelevant--like posting one's bra color, we can actually help to promote a cause.
But it starts becoming useless when one starts posting a bra colour only because they want to attract attention. Of course, I am in no position to judge anyone's intentions as to why they are posting what bra they are wearing. But it makes me wonder whether people started joining the fad because they wanted to help cancer or just because they thought it was "fun to see how long it takes before the men will wonder why all the girls have a colour in their status!"
Last time I heard, Breast Cancer does not primarily concern men most of the time; why must it be a driving force for the status message? (and don't argue that breast cancer can happen to men too, I know that. or that it would make it a challenge for them so that they would participate. give me something else; that won't work for me.)
