wow.
i never thought that i could feel so close to people after knowing them for only a couple weeks. it seems like i've known them for my entire life. i feel closer to them than i do with mostly everyone else who i know. they actually make me feel like they really do care! sarah, andrew, brenden, tamra...they all are so awesome. im glad i finally have some friends who i hang out with on a regular basis now. we all hung out all this weekend, and it was so fun. they came to new jersey with me on saturday to the through words/have heart show. the rides there and back were both so much fun. we got back into boston around 4:45 or so, then sarah and i were up till 6 am just talking in her dorm room. then last night (sunday) i drove up to northeastern university (where sarah, tamra and brenden go to school) at fucking 1 am to hang out with them. i got there around 1:30, and we just sat around for a while and watched family guy, then went out at about 4 am to get food. tamra came over and we made vegan pancakes. we watched more family guy and around 6:30 am we finally decided to go to bed. everyone just passed out so quickly, we were all so tired.
we got up at 1 that day and i had to head out around 2:30 because through words recorded 2 songs today, so i had to go to eric's to do that. we got them done rather quickly, so i was pumped on not having to do that for a long time. i came home around 7 or so, and i've been online since then, haha. i want to go back to boston so bad to hang out with everyone, but it's way too late, and i have work at 6 am tomorrow morning. it's cool, though. i plan on going up there a few more times this week. and besides, sarah is coming with me all this weekend to all of the through words/guns up! shows all over the place, so that'll be cool.
i've been surfing a few times in the past couple weeks as well. the waves were huge, and it was great surf. shawn and i went, it ruled. i think im retiring for this season, though. i dont have a full wetsuit yet and the water has gotten very cold. besides, my boards are down in my basement now, and it's too damn hard to carry them out of the basement. im so fucking lazy, haha. maybe i'll end up going one more time if the surf is good enough, and if i feel like spending $10 on renting a full wetsuit. i can defintely see that happening.
the YMCA is so awesome. im teaching more and more kids more stuff every day, and i love it. i had a 9-year-old come up to me the other day and give me a hug because i taught him how to drop in and ollie and stuff...it seriously made me want to cry (boys cry too, you know!!). his parents came up to me and thanked me as well, and they said that i am all derek (the 9-year-old) talks about anymore, haha. i love that job so much. it's so rewarding...and at the same time, im getting paid to skateboard! haha.
i've been talking to alle more lately, too. she's really cool. it was so funny/awesome when she called me when she was drunk the other night, hahah. i have to teach her how to skateboard and how to play drums! haha. so alle, if you're reading this, your lessons will begin soon...you name the date and im there! haha.
