Name: James Raynor
Age:  uhh about 32ish.
Canon: Starcraft
Canon Point: mid War Pigs Comics.

History: Here though have a brief write up.

Pretty much, it's sometime in the lull between the end of the Brood Wars and the start of Wings of Liberty, and Raynor's hiding out on Urona Sigma in a water access only tunnel systems. The planet's  ALSO Zerg infested - dangerously so for Raynor and co as they are hiding smack bang in the most heavily infested area. Eventually the raiders run into the War Pigs, a mercenary group hired to kill Raynor. Stuff happens that results in the group leaving the tunnels due to the Zerg and having to seal the tunnels and leave Raynor and the War Pigs trapped on the surface, away from the drop-ships and transport vessels.

It's about this time that the Protoss, high in orbit, start to cleans the planet - starting with the area away from Raynor and the War pigs, who were preparing for the end. It's from this point that Raynor is tossed into Zombie Land.

Personality: [At least 350 words] James Raynor is a decent human being in a sea of mostly corrupt individuals. He's a man of his word, and if he says he'll do something, he will. He learned from his father how to be decent, and is, despite his cockiness and rough edges. He knows where to draw the line and if that is taking a stand, then he will. But he'll never take a stand for stand's sake. It's not in his nature. He knows intimately the feeling of loss and betrayal and while the loss of his wife and son hurt him, it also made him a little bit stronger. Raynor will negotiate a deal for something he wants, but he will not sacrifice his morals for it.

Raynor isn't the type to look for trouble - it usually finds him, but he will not run from it. It found him in the Marines and by the time he left, he was so sick of Confederate bullshit and crap and them not giving a rat's arse about anyone but themselves that it left him jaded and bitter. And then he only got more when it came to his adopted homeworld of Mar Sara and how the confederates handled everything and this led him to make a deal with the devil; well, the Sons of Korhal. But even then, he was still shown how corrupt a human can get.

Raynor was sickened by the fact that the Confederates had known about the Zerg, and yet, for a short time Raynor fought at Mengsk's side. He was the lesser of two evils, some could say. Yet, it was too late when Raynor worked out what was going on. So, disgusted and revolted, he grabbed his men and left angry, bitter and resentful at being so used to further Mengsk's own goals. Add into the fact that the Zerg had been used to not only take out the Confederacy HQ, but also the innocent on Tarsonis. Oh and the utter lack of compassion or concern that Mengsk showed for Kerrigan's plight as he abandoned her to a certain death.

No matter how much Mengsk could justify it, it was not right and the civilians had never stood a chance. And he knew that he needed to stop the Zerg somehow. Mengsk sure as hell wasn't going to do it; the bastard was using them, and Raynor knew it. His friendship with Tassadar would lead to him becoming a valuable ally, and on the discovery of what had been done to Kerrigan only fueled his rage more, but also his motivation and determination to free her from the change.

Raynor has a strong loyalty to those who are loyal to him, and inspires loyalty in his men. He also enjoys drinks, and sometimes, if left alone, will wallow in his guilt and grief over what happened, even though he cannot change the past. He doesn't seem himself as the type to get a second chance, though fate seems to throw them in his path from time to time, given all the narrow and lucky escapes he's had. He's had his brushes with death, and he's not afraid of it. It's a reality that he faces front on and fearlessly. It's not to say that on some level he doesn't fear it, but it's not his nature to allow the fear to cripple him.

He's honest, does what is right even if it's hard and is a great improviser given how many time he's literally MacGyvered his way out of tight situations. He's never had any formal leadership training and this allows him to think well outside the box, and avoid the pit fall of accepted knowledge. If he can toss the book, he will, but he also knows when to play by the rules. Admittedly, they are fast and loose rules, but rules all the same.

He's gained the respect of Tassadar, Zeratul and Fenix, three notable Protoss, allowing the others to consider him a brother-in-arms. He's also one of the few Terrans who have a long term alliance with the race on a whole. He also is not afraid to stand up to them when it's needed, though even he will admit that they can be pretty scary, more so when he's still on a planet that they are nuking cleansing of Zerg.

Raynor also has a typical man's mind, but he will not act on it, so despite pretty girls around, he's not going to use them. Flirt with them, yea, but he won't take one to his bed. He's more than likely to just pay them the cash out of the decency of his heart. It's not in his morals to take advantage. His father raised him right, or at least tried to. The man's rough around the edges, but honest and decent.

Abilities:
Powers: Nada.
Physical Abilities: He's an Ex-marine turned freedom fighter, so he's very fit. He's got decent tracking skills, knows how to hotwire a car, is a good shot. That sort of thing - skills that one would pick up in the military and being an outlaw and then a marshal.
Mental Talents: None really, unless you count being able to 'hide away in spider holes in your mind' and being sensitive to telepaths / things in his mind due to mental interrogations.

Ability Limitations: He's human, as much as he's like to pretend otherwise at times.

Weapon:
Name: Handgun
Description: A handgun of some sort. presumably looks like this.
Abilities/Powers It just shoots bullets.
Limitations: N/A
Miscellaneous Items:
5 grenades
Presumably spare ammo for the gun
Presumably a knife somewhere on him as well.
His clothing.
Appearance: One, two, three

✇Samples✇
First Person Sample:  This is Jim Raynor o'the Hyperion. If anyone's here this sure as hell ain't Tarsonis, or Mengsk's bloody ship. Or mine for tha' matter. Horner? [Pause.] Matt, come in.

[Frustrated sound and then the sound of someone firing bullets can be hear. Along with several extermely crude cussesl.] Stupid piece a'shit. If it's one o'the fringe worlds, I need to speak to the local magistrate, now. Seems you got a Zerg infestation gone wrong. Really wrong.

If any of Mengsk's men are out there, tell your master that this ain't funny. Same goes for you Protoss. First you start nuking the planet, then you what - rescue me?-- Jesus Christ, there are more saner things to do than dump a man in the middle o'a gang of infested terrans

But if it ain't you guys, then I'm guessing the fucking Dominion's behind this. Shoulda figured. [What? Zombies look like infested Terrans.].

Third Person Sample:

"Shit!" The ex-marine cursed as he ducked the spines of the hydralisk, then brought his gun up to fire bullets at the thing as it loomed over him. Blood and guts spilled out, but he kept firing. There was no other way, and he needed to be sure. The thing was bigger, as well. Probably one of them damned hunter killers, and that was the last thing that he needed right now. Bad enough they had screamers coming at them along side the normal zerglings. "Get a ghost t'nuke tha' hive!"

"On it, Sir!" He heard Horner respond, and he smiled grimly as he ducked back. He could trust the man, but he needed to get his remaining men to fall back.  Raising his arm, he signalled them, along with giving the order over the commlinks.  As they started to fall back, he could see one of the hydralisks starting to grow a cocoon around itself.

He paled. Oh, no.

"MOVE MOVE MOVE! " Fuck this, he was not allowing his men to get ripped apart by a fucking lurker. And yet, to think that they had come so close to getting Kerrigan, only to be driven back by a brood that she was not with. The intel had to be faulty and if it were not for his quick thinking...

He didn't want to think about the loss of life that could have happened. It was bad enough the losses that had happened and now with a lurker forming, if they were not out of range and safely on a dropship, there would be even more. He swore bitterly as he followed his men. Dammed Zerg.

It was not until they were on the drop ship that he allowed himself a sigh of relief and buried his mounting anger at Mengsk.

He'd free Sarah Kerrigan, one or the other if it was the last thing that he did.
