the power of positive thinking.

Hello all! I am currently on the train heading back to Lake Carmel. I had the week off from school and went to see my mama. And, since there is no form of transportation from Syracuse to Lake Carmel, I took the bus to nyc and spent the weekend there.

I enjoyed delicious food at Joanna's dinner party. I wish Joanna could cook for me every night! I would venture to say a good time was had by all, in particular Melanie. Who got drunk in 2 seconds and proceeded to grind up on Emmy and bite me. I now have 3 giant bite-shaped bruises on my arms, everyone will think I'm into kinky sex. Like anal sex with a paddle or something.

Anyways, toward the end of the night we all got into a discussion about following your passion in life. It reminded me of this book I am reading for school. It talks about positive thinking and how if you surround yourself with negativity, you in turn will be negative. Its this whole "garbage in, garbage out" belief. For example, if you are always reading and watching the news (which we all know puts the most sensational stories first, that whole "if it bleeds, it leads" thing), if you watch a lot of movies or tv that focus on gory or unhappy things, you are putting "garbage" or negative things into your mind, therefore you are only going to put out the same sort of negativity. Not to sound all hippy or new-age, but it makes sense to me. I always feel pretty darn good after watching a hysterical comedy. Not to say that that's all I watch. I mean, we do have to be aware of what's going on around us, and a good documentary or scary movie is fine by me every now and then.

I guess what I am taking from that whole tangent, is that I want to be a more positive person. I want to be happier on a daily basis. And I am going to make the effort to do this. Because I do believe that being happy is a choice. So if you should hear me bitching or complaining too much, let me know-remind me of how good I have it and that I should be happy for that and focus on the good. I will do the same for all of you, that is, if you want me to.

Also, I would like to say to all 5 of you, that you are all my good friends. And I think very highly of each and every one of you. I consider you all to be intelligent, witty, caring and sympathetic people. (Of course you all have your own individual traits that I enjoy, but I don't have all night to type) Ordinary, mediocre-these are not words that ever come to mind when I think of any of you. So perhaps it would do you all good to remember that. Yeah, how's that for some tough love?!

I'm out yo. I got cornrows to work on.
