One of the cats brought a mouse inside. Sadly the mouse did not survive, nor was its presence discovered until - well let's just say the problem had multiplied in the worst possible way. Never mind. Well, yes and no. When I opened the door first thing in the morning the smell of newspaper was overpowering - and let's face it newspaper is a nicer smell than fly spray.

But after I cleared the newspaper out and the day wore on the fly spray smell came back, though for the first time it felt like it was fading a little.

Now Thursday morning here. After yet another day of all windows open and fans going, of a new lot of baking soda overnight and the candle going any time I thought the cats would stay out of the room, the smell is bearable (but still discernible to now-paranoid me) and the carpet is probably dry now from the carpet cleaning at 9pm at night on Sunday. I am going to put my room back together and maybe move back in there in the next few days. Maybe.

At least I know the room is clean - what with washing down all the woodwork, including bedroom furniture, washing all the bedding, vacuuming, and carpet cleaning.

Mouse clean-up took about an hour and a half on Sunday and ever since I've been working on deodorising my room from the clean-up!
