The hedgehogs in the garden are starting to eat up large ready for their hibernation. In the New Zealand (and the local) climate they don't have a very serious hibernation ... if it's warm for a while they'll wake up and forage for food, but they certainly have long sleeps over winter.
Currently we have two adult hedgehogs and one young hedgehog visiting the garden each night and often in the morning. All of them seem to be keen on getting into the water bowls, either after they've drunk or while they are drinking.
I'm not very often found using a flash for the photos of the hedgehogs since it seems a pretty mean thing to do to nocturnal animals (though they never seem to respond to it) but I accidentally had the flash on and got documentary evidence that the water bowl is also a foot bath for hedgehogs. :o)
