We were up fairly early as we had to visit a cat-friend who had some old cat magazines for us and everybody knows those sorts of visits take time.
Before heading out I took some photos of the fence art on the street below the hotel.

Poor old Christchurch. The earthquakes were almost 3 years ago now and the city is still a demolition zone, though more and more lots are now just flat and empty, waiting for whatever is planned for them in the new city.
Back in our dim dark past we planned to live in Christchurch. We were posted there with the Air Force for about 5 years and bought a house. But then the Air Force base closed and Gary and I were posted to different bases in the North Island and somehow ended up settling in Palmerston North. Anyway, we have a lot of good memories of Christchurch as it was.
I bought 180+ old cat magazines at $1 each, which is about what I pay via eBay - but on eBay there's an added cost of shipping at approximately US$50 per 35 magazines. So, I was very pleased with this purchase even though some (many?) of them are just upgrades for ones I already have. For some strange reason most of the Cats Magazine from the 1980s were still sealed in their plastic postage envelopes so I can be sure all of those are in better nick than what I have!
I suspect I slept during most of the trip from Christchurch to Blenheim (about 4 hours) but did wake up to take a couple of photos.
