Much has been made of the apparent fact that a sizable majority of African Americans in California voted Yes on Prop 8. The issue is a complex one with many grey areas. I read your post last night and was giving the truth is I need to do more research before I can make a strong argument here. I've seen many agree on everything but this word, and so it does not seem worth clinging to. But as I say, I need to do more research. But for now...

In your post you mentioned that to be recognized elsewhere it needed to have the same word, but even with the same word, is i recognized elsewhere, even now?

Looking at the venerable ;) wikipedia article it seems that most places don't recognize the legal status of other places, unless it corresponds with a law of their own. So how would the semantics make a difference?

I thought that someone gay married in Massachusetts did not get marriage rights in other US States.
