I feel really angry with life. Well, more society and humanity.
I think it probably started with that episode of Watchdog a couple of weeks ago, where a company targets vulnerable elderly people by pressuring them into buying overpriced products. They did a test visit from one of the "top dog" people in the company, and the old woman acting had to say no to her offers FIFTEEN times and insist that the salesperson leaves. That's not what made me angry. Watchdog then managed to get a spy hired by the company, and in training we learned that the sales reps are to try their best to sell everything for something like three times the price.
The spy then went out on a visit with another employee, who laughed about the sale they'd just made, followed by the classic line, "it's like nicking a mars bar from a baby." I know, ruining a child's day is the BEST FEELING EVER, right?! He then bragged about how he'd sold £15,000 worth of things (I say worth, it was probably worth £4000), and the man had died a week later, which was great because it was too late to return anything so he got to keep all the commission. I know, it's great when someone dies, isn't it? I wonder what they would think if it was their own grandparents, or even parents? I mean that would be hilarious, some guy's made a couple thousand pounds and is laughing about their death, I bet that would just warm your cold heart.
I can't believe those people aren't in prison, I really can't. How can they get away with living freely in our society when they're attacking vulnerable people like that? That IS a crime, surely?
Then, as I'm sure some of you have heard, Madina Lake bassist Matthew Leone is currently lying in hospital with a third of his skull missing after being left for dead in the street. What did he do to deserve such an attack? He dared to stand up for what's right by trying to stop a man beating up his wife, that's what.
This is EXACTLY why communities have been torn apart. People keep themselves to themselves, I barely even know my neighbours despite making the effort to introduce myself when they moved in, offer to help them, and invite them over for a drink. It's like they don't even want to know. And this is why. Because if you get involved with anyone you're not directly friends with, you end up in hospital with a third of your skull missing. Or in prison, because you've found out a kid you know is being abused by his parents, but they find out and get you done for paedophilia.
Obviously it's not that bad generally. But these things have happened, and it's made people afraid to take the risk. Let's not even mention the brat attack of kids. Just now, a friend of mine posted a status about how her sister just saved a kitten. From a tree? From a river? No, from teenagers throwing rocks at it. You know, I don't even have words.
