I am officially refusing to give birth in Japan. I took a look at the local women's hospital today and no. NO.
That unpadded, cold, metal birthing table... thing. I swear to you, it's what the Campells strapped Meg onto, only with stirrups! But I shouldn't worry! I can lie in the corner on the tatami and labour by myself - like a cat in a box - until the time comes to climb onto the bloody thing if I want.
I'm not some prima donna who wants to give birth in a jacuzzi with water lilies, hummingbirds and a quartet of harpists or anything. I would just like a bed with sheets and pillows please! That cannot be unrealistic!
I may have to go home to have the baby. It would be a long, uncomfortable trip, but this is stressing me out so much already and I don't want to spend the next six months dreading that table.
