And for extra happy, I've just had an email from my sick friend abroad. He'd just dropped out of sight and I feared for the worst. But it turns out he'd gone home to stay with his auntie for a bit, and he's back at work now (and hence living in a town with net access.)
Muji is a japanese company which sells furniture and crockery etc. It's all very plain, with nice simple lines, and it's designed for small places. The other reason I like it is that the drawers are modular, so instead of having to wait until I've saved a couple of hundred dollars and buying the whole thing at once, I can buy a single drawer for about $40.
Now that I have the net at home, I'll have a go and see if I can get my laptop to talk to my digital camera. :)
