OH GUS

Oct 03, 2009 17:04

wow, is it just me, or is the internet super quiet lately? it seems as though there's been not much going on, the last couple of days. what've you guys been up to? any fun fandom things?

me, I watched Psych 4x07, which was ADORABLE. I've been pretty meh about this whole season so far, but this one did have my heart, perhaps in no small part because I could listen to Dulé Hill sing allllll day. And it was a whole episode about how Gus had to reconcile with his buddies from college, and how they had to come back together and make music again in order to set things right! I loooooved the hackneyed and ridiculous ending where they had to SING the encryption away: seriously full points for that, Psych. Oh I could hug my show. And then Shawn was all worried that if Gus had a falling out with his old buds, he might have a falling out with SHAWN! Shawn's interior monologue was like this: "Hmmm, Gus is no longer friends with someone he used to be friends with. AHHHHH OMG GUS DON'T LEAVE ME!" Those two should have so many kisses all the time, I cannot even deal.

Anyway I loved it lots and lots.

Although, I must say, Psych needs to stop it with the following tropes:

1) omg you guys, a LADY is the culprit! Didn't see that coming, did you? A LADY! A good-looking one even!

2) hahaha, Shawn is SO WHITE! This double-squicks me, with the standard embarrassment squick and then also the squick in which James Roday, who is Hispanic, is passing/whitewashed for the show already - playing him up as super-white freaks me out.

But, that said, I was still charmed by the end where they all sang in harmony. I am so cheap and easy when it comes to anything where people sing.

(Which sort of tells you how much I hated Glee, because I honestly will put up with a lot for pretty singing, but I'm not putting up with that show.)

So, that's what I've been up to. Watching Psych. Also playing Super Mariokart for Wii, which is an awful lot of fun, although the adaptive difficulty in 150cc races is really annoying - it basically means that if you manage to get into first place, the computer will hit you with a dozen different tortoise shells and pows and lightning bolts to knock you out and STEAL YOUR VICTORY. Anyway, but, I do love being Yoshi in his little cart, or Toad in his fish-mobile. It takes me back to my days as a teenager playing Super Mariokart for SNES, awwwww. *grooves out on Rainbow Road*
