Went up to the city today.  I met up with my dad for lunch and then walked down near the Embarcadero and sat in a small park for a little while kind of doing nothing.  It was pretty fantastic actually, except for the wind that nearly knocked me over several times and went straight through my sweatshirt.  Hung out at the bookstore a bit.  I started reading the Golden Compass because people keep telling me to read it, so I did.  I enjoyed what I've read so far.  If I say why I was at the bookstore all day, I will be totally honest and say I was waiting for Russell Brand to show up.  And he did in the afternoon.  I saw him from across the street at my stakeout the bookstore because of his hair.  Lol.  So I wandered over to the museum where he'd be performing that night (I say museum, it was the shop part of the museum).  And sure enough, there he was, talking to the people at the museum about where they were going to put chairs and such.  I didn't want to bother him but Matt Morgan was looking around a bit and I felt really weird and jittery but I went up and told him how much I loved the radio show.  He was really sweet, his hair was all pulled back in a ponytail that poofed out at the back.  Then I went back to the bookstore.  I did desperately want to jump speak to Russell but he was in important discussion.  I figured I'd wait til the evening.  Though I would have followed discreetly (or not so discreetly if it meant dinner, lol, in my dreams) but decided he would probably be preparing to dazzle us all later.  EDIT: Now I am glad.  Didn't want to end up in the documentary like that girl he picked up at the bar.

My mom came up to meet me after a while, we got some dinner in Chinatown and then walked over to the Beat Museum to hear Russell do what was advertised as "jazz comedy".  It was, as to be expected, extremely funny, even though I don't think "jazz" comedy entered into the equation at all and it was him talking about their trip across America, some stuff he'd talked about on the radio already, but a lot of it new and very amusing.  He read from On the Road and got a bit serious at some times, the way he does.  And when he is only 5 feet away from you, you cannot help but notice just how bloody gorgeous he is.  They filmed it I guess for the BBC and apparently it will be on in November.  Should be nice and awkward for me, I was sitting in the second row and there couldn't have been more than 50 people there.  EDIT 2:  THANK GOD I was only in it for about 5 seconds.  Woot!

After it was over, we went up and talked to him, (it was such a tiny room, lol).  He was very sweet and lovely.  This old guy (Jack Kerouac vintage most likely) came up to him afterwards and said something like, "That was fucking amazing."  Made me smile that others were appreciating him, not just those who specifically came to see him.  I was shaking when I went up to him.  He grabbed me and kissed me (in front of my mother LMAO AWKWARD MUCH?) as a hello and then did that, "Alright darling?" thing he does and I fucking melted.  He signed my notebook (a few pages down from teh Izzard's!) and we chatted about how he liked SF and that I was excited to see the rest of the documentary and the Booky Wook and such.  My mom took our picture together.  It came out a little blurry but I still love it.  Also, he smelled really good.  We said thank you and he kissed both my mum and me on the cheek and turned to the next people.

I am still shaking with giddiness!

=)

Aww, and then my aunt called me while we were on the way home and she said that when Dylan was leaving our house, he was looking for me to say goodbye and saying my name (well, his version of it).  That's exciting because he doesn't quite talk yet, only says a few things.

ETA:  Russell's cowboy boots are fucking fab.  I don't wear cowboy boots (except when I was four and thought I was Annie Oakley or performing in a play that were part of the costume), but I would almost break my rule for them.
I had forgotten how much I liked the first season of Teachers.  I hope the other seasons are as good.  And its probably because I watched Velvet Goldmine recently but two of the teachers are Kurt and Brian and that made me giggle.  Simon would make an awesome English teacher if you already knew everything and learning was really just optional.

School starts on Monday.  Finally!  I'm really ready to go back actually.  Taking scriptwriting, film production and Italian so they should be pretty interesting.
