The Friday Five: March 28

In which Katy talks a lot about Muse and about one of her favorite things in the whole world, live music and concerts!

1. What band has made the biggest impact in your life, and why?

-I'm going to go with Muse here, and I'll tell you why. Muse has not only led me to meeting one of my very very best and lifetime friends, but also so many other Muse fans around the world. That alone is worth everything to me. Muse has given me concerts that have changed my life, blown my mind, and shown me how amazing and innovating live concerts can be. And, because of Muse, I have gotten to travel, and I couldn't ask for anything more, then getting to see and visit new places I've never been before, all the while experiencing new things along the way!

2. What album is the first you remembering purchasing yourself?

-I can't say for sure, but I think I've got to say Ace of Base. I Saw The Sign was a pretty awesome jam back in the day.

3. What concert stands out as the best you've ever seen?

-I've got two. One, is my very first time I saw Muse when I traveled to North Carolina. The unique thing about this concert was that they were considered openers for U2. And because of this, there was no flashy lights, no pyrotechnics, nothing fancy. Just three guys making music. And it was brilliant! And it could have been because I was meeting millionstar for the first time, or because I was just in complete shock, but it was the best thing I had ever seen. Or, anytime Muse plays in Vegas. Since Vegas just usually is a party atmosphere, I think everyone is in a good mood, and ready to have a good time. I think that always means a good time.

4. What concert stands out as the worst you've ever seen?

-I went to go see Brett Dennen at this terrible bar/club in a shady strip mall, and it was terrible, and so much so that I left early. And I was in such an unhappy mood that I preferred the opening act to the main act. I might go see him again, but I won't be going back to that club.

5. If you could create a dream band, which musicians would you choose?

-I don't think I want to create a dream band. Just a bunch of cool musicians that can jam together, and maybe a recording is made if we're lucky. As long as there is some piano in there somewhere.
