I'm not sure how old our uniforms were, but those things were stinky. But in a weird way, after four years in those things, I fell in love with them. One Halloween, my friend and I went trick or treating as band nerds. We "stole" our band pants, and shoes. That's how much I loved those things, lol!
I just looked at the picture. Freshmen year, including the guard, we had 36 kids. I remember for my Sophmore year show, we really tried to recruit people, so it was probably around the same number, if not a teeny bit higher. I think our "theme" show, at least our second year, was all thanks to our fantastic director. And honestly, I'm not trying to toot my own horn, it was a kick butt show. Except for the MASSIVE tarp that we had to roll out every single time. That thing was evil.
Of course that counts! I want to march to Thriller.
I'm impressed with you that you noticed the drums, because I didn't even know there were five on those things. I just always called them quads. But since I'm not a percussionist at all, I did a little wiki research and they say they're called quints. Our drummers were all really intense, so they had all kind of nifty stuff that us brass people didn't have.
You're adorable, and thank you. I'm really pleased that you enjoyed this.
OMG. That is the coolest Halloween outfit ever! Ahhh, I would love to steal that idea one of these days!
You guys were still a good size band! I know we've got kids who do jazz band or concert band, and not always marching, so I'm sure we've got more than 20. It's just such a sad number, oh man...
LOL QUINTS. THAT IS AMAZING. I almost played quads this year, but decided to go with bass drum just to start off. They sound so badass though, I seriously want to play them!!! I might play them next year, they're just that cool. :P
This was pretty much my favorite post of the month, tbh. I loved it so much. ;) (and I love that icon, awwwww)
Oh please do! No one had a clue what we were supposed to be, we also had random sombreros on our heads with our school initals on them btw, but that's okay. We were proud nerds.
You *should* play quads if you can! I agree, they do sound amazing, and that's a good enough reason to play them I think. They are totally badass.
