GIP! Look at those arms. BLOODY HELL IN A HANDBASKET!!

I guess this post is for my newest lj buddy
h_s_doodles and anyone else who doesn't mind listening to me nerd out about my former life. Miss Doodles, is a band nerd, and everytime she posts something band related, I get serious nostalgia issues about band. I was a band nerd from fifth grade all the way through my senior year of high school. That's a long time! I told her I would take a picture of my band to show us to her. I unfortunately could not fit the whole band in one picture, but I think you get the idea.

Freshmen year, our show was 'The Mask of Zorro', and I think everyone in their high school band career has to have a  spanish themed show. It has to be a law somewhere.

The funny thing, at least funny to me, was that this year, we had these moveable backdrops on wheels. And various band members would move them around during the show to show changes in the story. Once a year the band would travel to California for a competition, and of course all of our props would have to come with. When you get on the field, your allowed a certain number of minutes, to get settled and ready. For some reason, we could not get ourselves ready in time, so our moving backdrops never made it on the field. Instead they were left in front of the field on the track. And it was windy that day, so at various times during the show, these backdrops would move around in front of us. I won't ever forget listening to our judges tapes for that show, and hearing a judge say, "you should use those backdrops/props sometime. I think they would be very effective. LOL! Thanks buddy.

Can you find me? I'm the only female trumpet.

Our show, my sophmore year of high school was 'Prince of Egypt'. And if I can say so, we got a whole lot of recognition and attention for doing this show. We had this huge pyramid that we marched out of, our very own "burning bush" and a tarp that we marched on that was supposed to be the desert. It was a bit of a production, but this was my happiest year of band. I LOVE this year.  I'm in that picture too, promise! And by the way, if you've never seen the movie, 'Prince of Egypt", it's amazing!

I've always said, I would go back to high school, if only to do band again, and this post makes me realize that even more.
