Reversible Halloween Bag

For all my faithful readers,
Here it is. The pattern for my reversible Halloween Bag. First off, let me say this. I am sorry if it is hard to understand. I have never written a pattern before.  And, I have decided to create yet another chance to win a virtual gift, for your blog. And now, without further delay, here it is. The Halloween Bag Pattern:

Halloween Bag

Supplies:

Size “I” Hook, Size “I” Cro-Hook, Yarns (Red Heart) 1 Skein Pumpkin, 1 Skein Black, 1 Skein Bright Yellow, 1 Skein Coffee, 1 Skein White, 1 Skein Café

Bag Directions: Using cro-hook, start with pumpkin yarn.  Make a foundation chain of 40.

Row 1: Still working with pumpkin yarn, insert hook in the second chain from hook. YO and draw a loop through chain. Keep loop on hook. Insert hook in next chain, YO and draw up a loop. Continue doing this across chain. (40 loops should be on cro-hook.)

Row 2:With black yarn, YO and draw loop through first loop on your hook. YO, and draw through next 2 loops. YO and draw through 2 loops (one black, one orange), until all loops are off the hook. (You should do this 40 times.)

Row3: Continuing with black yarn, repeat row one.

(Hint: Each yarn is used for 2 rows. First, the yarn works loops off the hook, then it is used to put loops on the hook.)

Work the cro-hook, until you have a panel that is 20” long. Finish off.

Strap:

To make the strap, use one strand of each yarn, and make a foundation chain of 6. Work a single crochet panel, until strap measures 67 inches long.

To fit strap to bag: Fold the cro-hook panel, in half. Place one end of the strap, at one of the folding points, of the cro-hook panel. Using tapestry needle, sew strap, to cro-hook panel. Do the same, for the onther end.

Pockets: (2 pockets are made)

Using café yarn, make a foundation chain of 20. Work hdc across (18 hdc’s). Work in hdc, until pocket measures approximately 4x 4 inches. Finish off.

Pocket Framing: (One pocket framed with pumpkin yarn, the other with black. Same technique used.)

Attatch yarn to any corner of pocket, with slip stitch. Chain 4. DC in same stitch, and in each stitch, across to the next corner. (DC, chain 1, DC) in next corner. Repeat around pocket.

Candy corn (placed on black-framed pocket):

With bright yellow, chain 14

Row 1: work dc decrease, dc in next 7 dc, decrease.

Row 2: ch 3, dc decrease, dc in next 4 dc, decrease. Finish off.

Row 3: connect pumpkin with sl st, ch 3, decrease, dc in next 2 dc, decrease.

Row 4: ch3, decrease twice. Finish off.

Row 5: connect white with sl st, ch 3. Decrease. Finish off.

Witch Hat (placed on orange-framed pocket.)

With black, make foundation of 16.

Row 1: dc decrease 2 times (uses 4 stitches). Dc in next 5 dc, dc decrease 2 times. Finish off.

Row 2: using pumpkin, skip the 2 decreases, and connect with sl st into first dc. Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc. Finish off.

Row 3: attach black with sl stich to firs dc. Chain 3. Decrease 2 times.

Row 4: ch 3. Decrease. Dc in next dc

Row 5: ch 3. Decrease. Finish off.

Using tapestry needle, stitch the candy corn pocket onto the predominate orange side of bag. Flip bag inside-out, and turn around. Place witch hat pocket, on predominate black part of bag, on opposite side, from candy corn pocket.
