No Interruptions

Ok...So, here's the deal.
At the beginning of September, I was on FIRE! I was a FRIGGIN crocheting machine! The vision of my afghan, in all its finished glory, filled my head. Row 1 was worked, in a very short amount of time. And, as I started on row 2, I figured this afghan would be a friggin breeze.
Row 2, I came to find, was a little more challenging, to work. I really don't know why. There was just this, this...added pressure, that came on with row 2.  Slowly, I worked through it. I kept crocheting, day and night. I would wake up, have my coffee, and my breakfast. I would plop my ass on the couch. And, since my foot was giving me so much pain, whenever I stepped on it, I could LITERALLY spend all damned day, working with yarn. (Let me just say that my family was, most definately, NOT pleased with this. Neither, was my neighbor. I got tons of glares, which I just prentended to ignore. I got tons of comments, like "can't you do anything, other than crochet," and "of course...there you are. Working with yarn." Well...to hell with these comments. To hell with the glares.) Row 2, FINALLY, was finished.
Row 3: My foot finally stopped hurting. Now, I really had no friggin excuse, to sit around all day. So, my time was split, as I started row 3. The recipe, for Michael's Day- Just add equal parts of crocheting, with walking. Blend together, and viola...you had my schedule. Now...crocheting, in  itself, is something that tires me out. Alright, alright....it is probably not the crocheting, as much as it is, the deadline, set forth by The Yarn Project. All I know is that, every day, stitching my way through this afghan, I find I get exhausted. And, with row 3, now there was walking, which also exhausts me. So, by 7 o'clock, in the evening, I was friggin spent. As for the completion of row 3. Well...it took, in my opinion, too friggin long, to finish.
Row 4: Add in yet another factor, to take away time that should be spent, crocheting. My mother's birthday cruise is fast approaching, and I am one of those people, that tend to go overboard...WITH EVERYTHING!  I mean, you have your normal people...People who would have stopped, at the cruise, and maybe a cake. I mean, that in itself, is an awesome birthday gift, right? I'm sure it is. But, in my mind, it wasn't good enough. There had to be more. I was not ok, with the idea of giving her just a 'good' birthday. I wanted to give her an amazing, MIND-FRIGGIN-BLOWING, birthday. I wanted to pull out all the stops. So, here I was. I would be working on row 4, and I would have this idea, which would pop in my head. I would get the urge to get her just one more thing, offered by the gifts services, on the ship. So, the hook would go down, and my computer would go on. I would be on the Carnival website. And, while my original plan might have been to order up a keepsake box, once I was on the website, I would become so easily distracted. I would have to allow myself the chance, to look at every friggin single gift, offered. This would ususally take about an hour and a half. Then, I would spend an hour, deciding what it was, that I actually would wind up getting, that day. Then I would try to order it, online, only to find out that my booking number was, for whatever reason, not wanting to go through. So, I would have to call the gifts department. That, of course, would take forever.
Then, when the order was FINALLY placed, I would spend a good hour, obsessing.
(MY GOD...I AM A FRIGGIN FREAK!)
Needless to say, by the time I was done ordering the gift, evening would be upon me, and my time to crochet would be limited. I would swear to myself that the next day, I would dedicate more time to my yarn. Then, the next day would come, and it would be the same damned thing, all friggin over again.
Well...today I get a break. Why, you may ask. Well...I can no longer order anything, from Carnival. I have, at this point, purchased every damn thing, that would be suitable, to give to a parent, for a birthday. All that remains, unpurchased by me, are romantic themed items. And, I don't think so!
So, today, I only have two things on my plate. Crochet, and walk. Crochet and walk. Crochet...Walk. ( I think a shock collar is needed. When I think of something, apart from these two things, just turn it on high, baby!)
We are now 11 days away from the cruise. And, I have mixed feelings. The logical me is thinking there is NO DAMNED WAY, I am going to finish this afghan, before we go on the cruise. And, the logical me, has also agreed that this is ok. I will still have PLENTY of time, to finish the remainder of crocheted projects, before February 8, 2011.
But, then there is that other side. The optimistic side. And, it is telling me that, yes...it will be difiicult. But, if I try, really damned hard, there may still be a chance that this afghan can be finished, before the cruise.
We shall see.
Well, I am off. It is a quarter after 9, and my day is already zooming by. So...
Happy crocheting.
