and so it begins…

I got the permit for the deck this afternoon, w00t!  I’m going to start digging holes this weekend and since we had to revise the plans, we now have to demo the stairs coming off of the porch.  So I may work on that as well.

It’s a beautiful day today, mid 60’s with a slight breeze and glorious sunshine!  Tomorrow is suppose to be in the 80’s!  We have to get the A/C back in the window in the kids room this weekend so they don’t roast up there.  They unfortunately have the hottest room in the house due to the direct exposure of the afternoon sun.  I’m also going to invest in some black out curtains for their windows to try and keep the cool air in and hot air out.

I filed for unemployment this afternoon.  Now the waiting begins!  I have a week grace period where I don’t get paid, but I’ll start receiving benefits the following week as long as I submit 3 job searches.  So we should get some money coming in by the beginning of May.

I also had an impromptu interview this afternoon.  I had to run Jon’s golf uniform over to him after work and I spoke with his boss about the job hunt, etc.  Apparently one of the head bosses was there, so she had me sit down and meet with him.  They have 1 opening at the hotel right now and it’s for a front desk clerk, from 11p-7a and it’s only paying about $8/hr.  Ugh.  He said that if I was interested that he would talk to the manager at the hotel and tell her he spoke with me.  So I told him to go ahead.  I can’t be too picky right now.  Tho, I’ll have to crunch some numbers once I get my monetary determination from the VEC (Virginia Employment Commission) to see if I’ll get more money from them, or by working for $8/hr.

I have to call our mortgage company tomorrow to update our financials and to see if we qualify for the “Making Home Affordable” program that Obama created.  I know according to the .gov website we do qualify, but Countrywide has been known to put their own rules on things which may not qualify us.  So we’ll see.
