The got the first bone today. I didn't know which way it would fall, but it doesn't much matter TODAY, it just means that they will have to take their appeal more seriously. Honestly, if anything these blokes enjoy the hijinx too much, amused by the antics of lawyer monkeys in suits throwing their poop and demanding to be taken seriously. They historically haven't taken them seriously, openly looking down their noses at them in a terribly entertaining elitist sort of way.
They'll be fine as soon as they realize that the potential jail time is real... poop throwing monkey lawyers and their corporate masters ARE ridiculous and they have it coming... but they do run the world. Feel free to mock them, but don't forget you have to beat them at their own game FIRST, so they remain monkeys and you remain free.
So we're clear... I've always felt the RIAA and MPAA were poop throwing monkeys, and I celebrate every time they are revealed as such. Much as I respect the law, I violently reject using the law as an excuse to exploit others (versus using the law to prevent explotation). There is a business model were they could replace their tyranny with Awesome, which would make TPB irrelevant. Because they choose not to explore it, they fail to make it on my "Samurai Scale of Mutual Honourability," which absolves me of any feelings of guilt, both direct and indirect, for what becomes of them.
