So the
xray_spex had a car we couldn't fit the family in that moderate gas mileage. Zod had a car that X couldn't drive (manual), that got flagging gas mileage, due to its hard life and 82k miles (all mine, minus the 33 dealer miles I bought it with 5 years ago).
So we upgraded:

It reminds me of my 4runner in a lot of ways, only its roomier, newer, and has more features. But the feel of it is like putting on a beloved and forgotten pair of shoes. I clicked back into knowing how to drive the car's size and weight faster than I've remembered what my left foot is supposed to not be doing.
We got a "good" deal from the perspective of your average car buyer. With my credit and debt, and the albatross that was our VW beetle, as well as the doorstop my Matrix was devolving into, we got a "great" deal.
We DID buy a car with comparably lousy fuel consumption, but its a car we've both wanted for about a year, so I'm not going to bitch about that.
Soon the democrats will be in office, OPEC won't longer fear us, our own oil reserves will be protected for the sake of keeping natural resources in their most natural state (unused and untouchable), and money normally spent on industrial technology will be directed to social programs. That should certainly make oil prices go down, surely, because Bush won't be there, and everything is his fault.
I NEVER bonded with my Matrix. I don't know why. I had a relationship with my 71 Beetle, and I connected with my 4runner, but the Matrix was... a tool... I'm hoping the Pilot and I get along better.
