miss saigon
we went to vietnam for the weekend. and we saw nothing out of the ordinary.
except this street sign, which was so cool.
the highlight of the trip was getting to fire an AK47 (4-1). automatic. dun lang daw puede magfire ng automatic na machine gun eh. yan may picture pa talaga. ang galing kasi parang counter, brown din yung handle tas pag pitik pitik lang natatamaan yung target pero pag niratrat, tumataas yung baril. haha. tara laro tayo, counter night!
there were also M16s (3-1) and carbines (4-3). nastarstruck ako. my precious adolescent years right before my eyes..
yosi. meron din akong uwing Saigon beer. pero nagwane na urge ko uminom. tara inom tayo.
what South Vietnam lacks in sustaining the interest of tourists with short attention spans they make up with their unbelievably good-natured and honest populace. they're so nice that they sometimes come off as meek and timid. kahit binabarat mo na yung tindera, makikita mo na naiinis na siya pero pagkatapos mo tawaran ng lagpas kalahati at bigyan siya ng 500,000 Dong hahabulin ka pa niya kasi dapat 50,000 Dong lang ang binigay mo. dami kasing zero. tapos tatawa ka at hihirit ka in english with matching hand gestures ng typical pinoy joke na akala mo nakamura ka pero nalugi ka pala without you even knowing it. tapos tatawa rin yung tindera, kala mo naintindihan ka niya pero hindi kasi konting english lang alam niya. natatawa lang siya siguro sayo kasi tawa ka ng tawa while mumbling strange words.
this is a typical picture of someone who doesn't have any Vietnamese blood. pero nice siya. hahaha. and honest. haha.
