It has been a very long time since I have posted anything here, but rest assured I have been diligently reading about everyones lives.
What has happened since the Ides of March? In brief:
- My Mother came back for the summer
- My Brother got Married on 7-7-07
- I left the company I co-founded to start a new job at Questrade
My mom who temporarily living in Dubai with my Dad, finds it excruciatingly hot (as the temperature is known to reach 45°C), so she comes home in the summer for a couple of months. This gives her a chance to get caught up with family and friends, as well as wrap up things in Canada that she can't necessarily do in Dubai.
This summer was pretty tough on her, as she came back to learn that a neighbour had recently died, another had got a divorce after 30+ years of marriage, and she also witnessed another neighbour pass away after a battle with cancer.
But things were not all bad, my brother got married at a lovely ceremony at the Nottawasaga Inn. It was a beautiful summers day, and everything went as planned. I'm happy for my brother, he has found a loving and caring woman to call his wife.
chanilye and I have also had a hard time as in August her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. The initial operation went well to remove a lump found in her breast, and ongoing chemotherapy treatments have been going well.
But things are looking up:
On the September long weekend I went away with seven other friends to Algonquin for some backwoods canoeing. This trip we had some of the best weather I have ever seen. The route was smaller this time, but overall it was a very enjoyable time.
Sometime in September I was being wooed to join a Company called Questrade. They are an trading brokerage, and are rapidly expanding. I knew a couple of people at the company and they were looking for someone with my skills. It took me a long time to decide on wether or not I should join them, but I did some research, and eventually went for the interview. As of October 22nd, I joined their team.
The only thing that sucks so far about the job is the commute, as it's double to triple my old commute time, which was a mere 20 mins. The good thing about the commute is that I can carpool to work, so half of the time I don't have to drive. We always get to use the HOV lane, which in rush hour has us doing 110 while everyone to the right of us are crawling along.
In other news, my parents might extend their life overseas, continuing to live in Dubai when
my dad's project is finished, and he will be working on a new project in
the Maldives.
chanilye and my theatre subscription begins soon, which I am looking forward to. Another pretty big announcement is that we are both turning 30 this year, and the dates are rapidly approaching. We have decided to have a joint birthday party this year, as we know that lots of people are busy at this time of year, and we share most of our friends anyways. So hopefully I will see you at the party.
Very Sad to hear about the passing of Robert Goulet this week. However, the adventures of Robo-Goulet will live on forever!
Here's a movie clip to highlight the man's career:
