After another 70 mile ride today, I've pretty much decided to be happy go lucky this summer and set off into the sunrise, going east. I think I'll bike to Colorado, take a train across the plains until I've passed the majority of the corn fields, then hop on the bike again, go across Pennsylvania down into the East and maybe even the South. Never been to Alabama or Missippi. And at 80-100 miles a day, you can go pretty damn far. Dan, one of the cycling team guys said today (he's heading cross country next week), "man, I'm doing the 3000 miles in a month. If you don't leave until June, I'll come back again with you. It's only 3000 miles." haha. only 3000 miles. I like that approach. I mean, I've done 200 since Tuesday, not a big deal. Wha'ts 100 per day? Just a few hours. And besides, the East coast is flat. I say June 20th - mid August. Two months at 80 miles a day averages to 5000 miles. Spend the summer on the road across America.
Summer sounds good, ignoring the imminent loneliness and hardship of September-May.
