Recent Additions to my life:
- Screaming children on Wednesdays and Fridays. I am their soccer coach, and oh do those children make my heart run wild. All the boys tugging on my shirt saying, "Can I go to the bathroom" or "He called me a loser!". I really love these kids. Within fifteen minutes of coaching, I had broken up a fight, counseled an unlucky boy who kick hit in the balls with the soccer ball (and tears streaming down his face), and settled ten arguments at least. Soccer was an afterthought at best.
- Soccer. Once again, Sundays and Wednesday nights set the tone for the rest of the day. Tonight's game was filled with sweat and glory.
- Roommates. Waiting for Kevin to come home so I can hold and hug him, chatting to Big D in our room (sharing a room isn't bad at all), and having Cory sternly asking me, "Did you dry the dishes with the non-dish towel?"
- Having a Hungarian Professor. I missed the first lecture, and he (his name is Arpad Horvath, a very Hungarian name) sternly told me I would most likely not be able to continue the class.
"What's your name?"
"Geza."
"Oh. I'll see if we can work something out. I might feel required to let you in."
Works like a charm. I've started going by Geza. Even my e-mails say it now, "Geza Theodore". I'm going to start incorporating my real name into my life.
- Reality has become a novel introduction into my life. I once shunned Reed's idea of the peace corps, but now a break like that doesn't sound bad. Maybe teaching english somewhere, working with an NGO, travelling (especially in America!), going to Grad school. I begin to think, "What have I really learned in college? Now that it's basically over".
