Risks and Benefits

The closing on the house was bumpy but it's over and things are okay.  Today we went over to check things out and prepping things for repair and I was overcome with the most amazing feelings of possession and nesting.  Luckily it passed as this is a rental property and not someplace I'll be living permanently, so I was able to shake it off and think of something else.  The house is very nice and would be a very comfortable home.  The problem is it's in the middle of nowhere....that is, in a subdivision in the middle of nowhere.  I'm thinking if I have to drive 15 miles off the beaten path, I'd want the place to actually be in the country.  I don't want to drive 15 minutes to a subdivision that is a identical to a zillion other subdivisions that are in a more convenient location - minutes from the freeway and shopping.

I had to buy homeowner's insurance for the house and paid for it with my debit card instead of my credit card, and since it came out of my checking account I was a little short on the down payment.  Luckily J moved some money into my account to cover what I needed for the closing as well as getting a head start on repairs.  I wouldn't have been able to do it without her.

Anyway after looking things over at the house today, we had lunch at one of our favorite buffets and went a little too crazy.  Afterward we went to the bank to deposit some checks into our respective accounts.  As we pulled up to the bank I realized I needed to retire to the ladies room to meditate on the risk/benefit ratio of ingesting tons of high fiber food along with lactose-laden foods that I can't digest without the help of artificial enzymes.  I gave J my debit card and the check to deposit for me.  She asked me for my passcode and I gave it to her.

As we parted ways I said "Oh great.  Now you can get into my account and steal all your money."

I crack me up.
