Evocation and John Barrowman

One of my favourite authors Alan Garner wrote two books set right on the edge of the Peak District. It's set in real locations and you can find the names of the places, Macclesfield, Alderley Edge, Mobbely. The stories are so powerful and evocative that just seeing the names instantly takes me back to them.

The Weirdstone of Brisingamen and The Moon of Gomrath, you should check them out for some great British folk tales and drama.

Also Friday night I'm going to see John Barrowman perform live in Portsmouth. It's been a bit of a spontaneous decision, I didn't really know it was on until very recently and the date for this week only on Monday. I'm quite excited about it.

The songs he's chosen on his CD's are not generally my type of music, but I want to see if he can make me enjoy them and it's as much for his performance as anything. He's quite the showman. Roll on tomorrow!
