Even though he had reminded them, a part of him wondered if any of the students would show. )
"Evening," he said simply before coming to a stop and glancing over his shoulder at Lester, as if to make sure he was following. Honestly, he wasn't looking forward to dealing with the man's usual attitude, especially with everything he'd learned recently. He hadn't told anyone about what Oscar had sent Lawrence out to do, preferring to leave it to the blond's discretion, but just because he didn't want to worry the group needlessly yet didn't mean he wasn't going to keep his hackles up around the nosy old man. Ezra finally looked over at him, the shadow from his pulled up hood hiding his eyes a bit, before nodding at the box in his grasp.
"Should we bother asking what's in the box or is it a surprise?"
Reply
He noticed the box for the first time after Ezra pointed out. "Is it a good box or a bad box?" he found himself asking no one in particular.

Though there were students present and he was halfway tempted in leaving the box with them to wait for the others so that he could return to his own room, Oscar looked back at the door. He could wait a few more minutes before resorting to that. For now, he kept his package in his hands.
"Are you really that curious?"

Then his roommate came onto the scene, and Ezra unconsciously stiffened. Of course. This was Lawrence, who didn't know the meaning of discretion. Trust him to confront someone in the most melodramatic way possible...
He glared almost bitterly back at the blond and held his tongue, waiting to see what explanation the principal would offer up, if any. He would have been looking forward to finally getting answers if he wasn't so busy being irritated with himself at leaving the matter in the blond's hands. Hadn't he learned by now?

He was about to say something about the box but then felt the air become a little more...tense. If that was the right word. He finally broke eye contact with the box (if that was possible at all to do with a hopefully inanimate object to look around.
"Oh," he said when he finally spotted Lawrence. "Hello. When did you get here?"
Reply
"H-hello Lester," he stuttered, halfway between furrowing his brow and trying to maintain even the smallest bit of his confidence, "I, er, just got here..." he trailed off, clearing his throat and staring back at Oscar expectantly. "...Well? Are you going to dignify me with a response, Principal Ivors? I should say you at least owe me that much after the hell you put me through a few nights ago."
Lawrence? Bitter? Naaaah.

"Hello Lilly." He then turned to point at the box in Oscar's hand. "He has a box."

"Good evening, Mr. Ivors," she greeted without looking away from the box.

Rather than egg on anything else, he waved to Lillian, shifting the box in his hand carefully. "Good evening, Ms. Taylor. Do you have any idea where the rest of you are? They're starting to run a bit late."
Reply
She was only a little late but based on a quick look, not everyone was there yet. When her eyes fell on Oscar and the box, her eyes narrowed subtly for a briefest moment before she collected herself. Artemis had enough disdain for her behalf.

Instead, she answered Principal Ivor's question.
"I'm not sure where everyone is but I'll make some calls." And with that, she pulled out her cell phone and proceeded to call Heather, Emi, and the rest of the group, turning her back on the principal and whatever plight he'd brought on himself.

His response was simple, but he stopped there for now. Though he would've happily just sent them off at that moment to drop the subject, and to make them not late, he decided to wait a bit more just so Lillian could complete her calls. And really, the principal had hoped to leave the box in the hands of a student he could trust would have a serious moral dilemma about opening it before they arrived at the zoo. Basically, Heather. He would give it five more minutes.

"S.. sorry for being late..! I can u-u-understand if you won't forgive me, sir, but at least accept my humble apologies.." She started speaking rather fast, probably out of general embarassment and shyness as well, even though she didn't dare to look Oscar directly in the eyes even as she spoke. Then she gave a quick nod towards Lillian, as if to thank her about the phone call.
