Without Lilly's reminder, Lester probably wouldn't have shown up. Mostly because he had completely forgotten about this altogether. So he appeared in the attic, looking like he had just dragged himself out of bed--mostly because that's exactly what he did. He hoped no one would mind if he had just quickly brushed his hair out, pulled it into a loose ponytail, and trudged up in his pajamas. At least he didn't forget to get his shoes on. Hooray for the convenience of flip-flops. What was he doing again? Oh right, getting himself to the attic.

He spotted her and shuffled over to her in silence, and stared out of the window next to her. He started hum along to the song playing on his piPod, which just happened to be this song.

Lillian looked up from the note she was writing, smiling up at Lester. She sat the notebook and pen down in her lap. Now that she had started writing the letter, it had occurred to her that simply sending an instructional manual might be a little too much for their friends in 1934 to easily understand.

"Good morning, Lester," she said, her smile widening as she recognized the tune. "How are you?"

Lester looked over at Lilly with the corners of his mouth turned up ever so slightly. "Good morning Lilly," he said, turning down the volume on his piPod a little so he could hear her a bit better. "Okay, I think. How about you?"

Being up so early in the morning was no problem for Lawrence. The fight he'd had with Ezra the night before weighed heavily on his mind, and he remembered that the meeting was today. Quietly, trying very hard not to wake up his roommate, he got dressed and slipped out of the room with his pocketbook, not noticing that he'd left his fountain pen behind on the desk. He made his way towards the attic and mentally prepared himself for what was about to happen. He would probably have a lot of enemies in this room... but he felt a bit reassured, too, because Lilly would be here as well, and the thought of seeing her again filled him with an unusual amount of joy. He smoothed out his cravat before taking one awkward step further and entered the room.

"Hello L---" and then, he noticed Lester. And the smile he had worn before faded immediately. He coughed, trying not to make himself noticeable and regained his usual look of indifference. "Good morning," he said, standing there awkwardly.

"I'm very well, actually," Lillian said in a soft, warm tone. Something was defnitely different about her today. It was almost as if there was a light inside her that hadn't been there before.

Then when, Lawrence joined them, she lit up even further. Once her eyes settled on Lawrence, her smile widened and turned almost radiant.

"Good morning, Lawrence~" she said, eyes sparkling with happiness.

Lester blinked at the two before turning back to the window. He kept his fingers on the volume control of his headphones and turned it back up. If someone stood close enough to him, they would hear his music faintly. He kept his eyes trained outside the window, looking like he was about to fall back asleep.

((ooc: Lester isn't likely to say anything or do anything more until others walk in))

Lawrence gave Lester a single glance before walking over to Lilly. He noticed how happy she was, and he couldn't help but smile, as well.

"Good morning, Lillian. How are you today? Did you sleep well?" He asked, with an unusually kind tone in his voice.

For a second, Lillian's smile faltered. Something was bothering Lester. She could feel it. For a minute, she wondered if something else had happened between him and Ezra that she had missed. She glanced at him a little worriedly then shook her head. Regardless of what it was, it would be better to discuss it with him privately.

She shook her head ever so slightly, turning her attention back to Lawrence. The softness returned to her face and she leaned back in the chair, smiling up at him sweetly.

"Very well, actually. Terri was almost well behaved this weekend, at least for her. I made sure to get plenty of sleep because I knew it would be a busy day today. What about you? How are you? Did you sleep well, Lawrence?"

Lawrence was relieved to hear that Terri was behaved this weekend and didn't give Lilly any trouble. But at her question, his smile faltered a little. He couldn't tell her about the fight he had with Ezra, again... and truth be told, he really didn't sleep well because of it. Ezra didn't say another word to Lawrence the whole night, even when he came back. It was... strange. Not unwanted, but very strange.

"I'm glad to hear that your roommate was more behaved this weekend, and that you got plenty of sleep for today. Ah, um... as for I... I didn't sleep very well, no..." he said, trailing off a bit awkwardly while rubbing his neck.

"I'm sorry to hear that," she said with a concerned look on her face. "Would talking about it help? I should have some time after the meeting if you would like to go somewhere private."

Lawrence smiled and shook his head, "It's nothing you should worry yourself over. I'm fine, now. I'm happy that I get to see you again."

"Okay," she said gently, that soft smile returning. "If you're sure. I'm really happy I get to see you, too. I'm sorry we didn't get to spend much time together yesterday. I needed to catch up on some homework I've been slacking on..."

There really wasn't any other way to describe her attitude toward her school work lately. She had the same amount of work this school year as she'd had the year before and she'd stopped tutoring people as much with everything new that had developed in the past few months. If Lillian was honest with herself, she'd been depressed lately and it had been sapping both her patience and energy.

Lawrence was a bit surprised to hear Lilly apologizing. He noticed that she'd backed down from questioning him too much on what happened, though. That was good... he didn't want to tell her about the fight he'd had with Ezra.

"That's quite alright," Lawrence began, with another smile. "I was rather busy investigating something, myself. I hope that you were able to get onto a comfortable page with your homework."

Shortly after his room mate had left, Ezra was dragging himself out of bed purposefully. Unlike Lawrence he'd been out like a log and gotten a full night's dreamless sleep. It didn't make him feel any more well-rested, and it was only due to luck that he blearily spotted the lonely fountain pen left behind on Lawrence's desk. Ezra didn't know the blond very well, but he knew his mannerisms and that he never went anywhere without two things - his pocketbook and that pen. Ezra had tucked it into his hoodie pocket just in case he'd miss it at the meeting. Despite how awkwardly they'd left things hanging between them, Ezra felt certain Lawrence would show, somehow. Not that he was looking forward to seeing him there, but he would deal with it ( ... )

Lester looked up at Ezra as he came to stand by him. He blinked up at him, smiled a little, and went back to looking out the window.

"Hello Ezra," he whispered. He was relieved to know that he was okay. He wasn't know what he was expecting, but after what someone had said in the library, he couldn't shake the feeling that something bad might happen.

Lawrence turned around, noticing now that Ezra had joined them. He thought it was a little strange, since he had only just joined them himself. Maybe Ezra was just waiting for him to leave? He looked from Ezra to Lester. Since Ezra popped in, Lester seemed to be talking again... that was a little odd... but he shifted his gaze back to Lilly nonetheless.
