Who: Jimmy, Theo, eventually Betty~
Where: Downtown Abaton, fairly close to the iffier parts of town.
When: August 4th, 1934
Why: Go go stakeout! They are so going to mess this up. And intro-ing Betty~

The last week or so had been relatively useful in dredging up rumors regarding the hit-and-runs all over town, but it was hardly enough to satisfy Theo. Already there had been cause for yet another news article about the latest victim, another middle-class late night straggler instead of the homeless that it had been picking off the entire summer, and getting farther away from the poorer areas of town. Rumors and stories from frightened scragglers from under the bridge or of passerby was all well and good, but it was hardly going to get them anywhere without seeing it for themselves first. Not that Theo was looking forwards to coming into contact with a car made of supposed sheer evil and hatred, but some things needed to be done. Hopefully from a reasonably safe distance).

And that, after a trip to Locrine for written permission to be out past curfew, was why the sophomore was at a fairly busy outdoor cafe at quarter-to-nine, already halfway through his cappuccino and sandwich as he tweaked his essay outline for probably the third time that night. Because, as was just his luck, Locrine had been surprisingly firm about refusing said permission unless there was some sort of Buddy System. …Okay, not firm, unless you considered unintentional guilt trips about possibly sending your faculty RA into some sort of nervous aneurysm as "firm", but it had worked (something Theo still grated his teeth over, because he should't have found it so difficult to argue back, but the older boy was just so eager to help and yet overwhelmingly self-effacing that not giving in would have probably been akin to drowning a sack full of puppies.).

It did explain why he had decided to put up with being out on the town with Campbell, of all people. It… hadn't turned out as horrendously as Theo thought it would, so far. Which wasn't saying much. No, really.
