Another weekend and three more days at the farm working on my wood projects. As of Sunday evening, a final coat of varnish was drying on the shelf for my big television. Next time I visit the farm, I can give the shelf a polishing rub with the finest steel wool and take it home. Also, my tv stand is (mostly) assembled and ready for a first coat ( Read more... )

I drove to Minnetonka Friday evening to pick up the choral music I ordered from Schmitt Music. To make the trip worthwhile, I stopped in Delano on the way home to see "Eagle Eye." On a glorious Saturday, I returned to Carl Johnson County Forest for another chance to chronicle the fall leaves. Much of the green turned to yellow during the week. When Phil Rasset finished plowing a corn field, he informed Dad of a hole he noticed in the field. What they found was three feet in diameter and six feet deep with straight walls. Since Friday, I've had very little time to sit. I drove to Eagan for Nicole Neumann's birthday bash. Dad has been suffering from a pinched nerve. At least that's what two trips to the chiropractor and an x-ray have determined. He is scheduled for another chiropractor visit and an MRI to resolve the issue. In the meantime, he puts up with the pain. On Wednesday, it hurt bad enough that he asked me to come help with chores.
