We wonder who we are. We wonder what we’ve become, but no one realizes that nothing has changed. “our culture is getting worse and worse every day. An unprecedented immorality has gripped our nation.” Wonderful sentiments. Two words: Roman Empire. This little culture became the epitome of extravagance. We, in our disillusioned self embellishment, love being the essence of something.
We are the most… We are nothing new. And the idea of lechery is nothing new. Lemurs enjoy extravagant orgies, homosexuality, and masturbation. In their system these items of “disgusting behavior” is based upon comfort. If a troop of lemurs is comfortable the frequency of sexual entertainment rises. They begin to entertain what we like to call “experimentation.” As accordance to sociobiology homosexuality is completely comfort dependent. A group of higher order cognitive organisms will, upon reaching a comfort quotient, entertain homosexuality. They do not become homosexual because this is not something you can become….it is an adverb not an adjective. You cannot be homosexual you can only entertain homosexuality to certain degrees. McKenzie entertained this with his scale. The reason we, as humans, have homosexuals and heterosexuals is because our culture as deemed that these are different things.
Sociobiology would beg to differ. Sociobiology would assert that homosexuality and heterosexuality are under one ubiquitous banner called sexuality. You are sexual. You, based upon your comfort, will express different forms of sexuality. Cultural stipulation will create the rules to guide this, but without such rules there is just sexuality. See to the Romans. The epitome of lechery also came with the apex of comfort. As humans become more comfortable and less inclined to feel competition as an integral part of existence they begin to “experiment” because this is an inherent part of higher order cognition. With the “gift” of sexual fulfillment came the insatiability of such sexuality. Humans are adapting, ever evolving, organisms. So is their sexuality. In this quest we require constant alteration of sexuality. Thus these deviations. Thus these experimentations. It is only because of standards and enumerative categories that you must “choose” one, and thus nature/nurture comes into play. Hence we have gays and ~gays. And of course “double”~gays. Instead of sexuals. And in the case of priests ~sexuals.
