Have to pay for it

When I was growing up, my mom always explained to me how important it was to her for me to be able to go to college. Her dad made plenty of money, but refused to help her with her college education at all, so she worked and got loans and put herself through a four year degree in three years by taking overloads. (While working!) Well, she didn't want this for me, so she started a college fund for me when I was born. It paid for my first two years, and she also helped with my second two, (I also worked part-time during the years and full-time during the summer) and managed to get my degree without ANY student loans. I was insanely proud of this, and had wanted to do the same thing for my kids.

Sadly, with the amount of debt we're in right now, it doesn't look like that's possible. And I've since learned that there lots of easy ways to get Direct Student Loans on the internet, and they aren't the end of the world. Student debt is for a good cause and usually has nicer terms than consumer debt. So as much as I would like to help Ben and any future children through school, at this point, it looks like we'll be applying for lots of grants, scholarships and loans. Hey, we've got 16 years though ... who knows what could happen in that amount of time?
