My friend
kikifitz has made a poll called
"Is your husband stuck in the 50s?" about how much husbands/partners help out with household chores and kids, etc. She would like as many people as possible to take her poll, so if you have a second, (OK, its more like 5 minutes) hop on over there. Obviously, not every question applies to everyone. Just skip them if they don't apply.
I think I probably skewed her answers a bit though, because of our rare situation (working mom, stay at home dad) but yet was still surprised at how many "only when asked" answers I checked. Not a ton, but more than I would have imagined. I guess I don't mind asking too much though, because the answer is usually yes.
One of the things I feel is missing from the poll though, is how much "guy" work the husband/partner does. Like who mows the lawn? Who does household repairs? Who fixes the toilet if it gets stopped up? Not that women can't do these things, certainly, but if the guy is the one doing the mowing, maybe that's why he thinks its fair that he never does the dishes ... just a thought ...
