Don't call China OR 911

I was on the phone with my mom yesterday, and she told me about a story she heard on the news(?) about a 2-year-old girl who called 911 and said "Mama owie." The operator said "Your mommy has an owie?" and she just said "Mama owie" over and over again. They sent an ambulance and sure enough, her mother had passed out from a migrane and hit her head when she fell. This toddler saved her mom's life!!! Apparently, the mother had taught her daughter how to call 911 on her toy phone, saying that 911 was for "big owies." Isn't it amazing that she knew to call 911 on the real phone when it was needed? My mom said hearing it made her think of me (awww) and she thought we should teach Ben about 911. Whoa Nellie, mom!

Just because Ben talks like a 2-year-old does not mean he has the brain power of one. I mean, in the news, they'll say the girl was 2 regardless of whether her true age is 24 months or 35 months. Ben is 21 months and if you taught him to call 911, he'd do it six times a day. Seriously. Everytime he gets his hands on one of our phones, he calls someone. Usually he just returns the last call we made, but sometimes he scrolls through the contact list and calls someone random. Everytime he plays with the phone I tell him "Don't call China" and the other day, he picked up the phone with a glint in his eye and said "Call China!" He then proceeded to call someone I'm not really friends with anymore who's number I haven't gotten around to deleting out of my phone yet. Great. Thanks dude.

Yeah, 911? Not a good idea at this point.

funny, mom, benjamin
