[This is a bit of a different action entry. This is for the people here, as well as anyone else interested that didn't post in the linked thread.

Basically, Angelus is on the loose, and he's pretty fast, so location doesn't much matter.

If you want your character attacked, reply in action format with their location and what they're generally ( Read more... )

[It's the next night after Angelus' initial spree, and Buffy is out on the patrol on the skirt of the forest--Kirk with her. Better to take him with, than leave him behind to recklessly gallivant behind her back. Clearly, she doesn't think much of your self-control, Jim.

She has a stolen hypospray in her pocket, settled next to a cross. She hopes it's enough.]

I gotta apologize, Jim. I didn't exactly hope for you to learn about how I'm living with a vampire in this extra-special, terrifying way.

[She's being obvious about her need for some sort of lightness in this very heavy situation.]

Not a problem. I wasn't planning on you meeting Bones when he looked like Spock... though I think it's certainly an improvement on his mood.

[ He flashes her a grin and flicks the phaser, setting it to stun. ]

For a moment there, I almost thought that was his real appearance--y'know, what with the this being my first time with the non-journal conversation when it comes to him. So there's another excellently awful first impression--me bursting in, the girl who cried vamp.

[She is jittery, eyes darting. She keeps trying to sense for him but feels too alert, like she's convincing herself that he's surrounding them.]

If you see him, don't go all rush-in-mode. Please. Call me a sentimental fool, but I'd rather not see you dead.

[And he's sitting against a tree, looking rather troubled. He spots Buffy coming and stands. He clearly doesn't want to see you right now, all kinds of guilt etched on his face. Soft:] Buffy.[He's eyeing Kirk, but that's not going to stop him.] Buffy, I didn't-... I... [A sigh, troubled in that can't settle down guiltridden way he has.] You should have staked me when I asked you to.

[ Hearing the voice, Kirk quickly turned with his phaser pointed at the man. He glanced quickly at Buffy, then at the man. He only slightly lowered his phaser. He didn't seem to be a danger yet... but Buffy had said he was a brilliant actor. So he decided to wait. ]

[Even as she reaches for the cross in her pocket, she can hear the guilt. She remembers how both Kirk and McCoy had shifted back and forth between themselves and what they hated most. Could this actually be--?]

Angel? [She looks between the vampire and the captain, giving Kirk a small shake of her head when she sees the phaser drop--even if only slightly.]

Jim, keep it on him. Just in case.

[She approaches Angel, now. Careful steps, and her fingers still wrapped around the concealed cross.]

Is it you?

[At 'Angel', he's averting his gaze. But then she starts to approach, so his eyes jerk back up at her.]

Don't, I might-... It could be dangerous. [He seems conflicted, doesn't like telling Buffy to stay away, but it's better for her.]

No, really? That's sort of obvious.

[ He angled the phaser up gain at the look from Buffy. ]

I can handle dangerous. [And then, more quietly:] Danger-handling is not new to me. I think danger-handling is sort of in the job description.

[A big chunk of her is convinced, but that little smidgen of doubt urges her to put herself between Jim and the vampire claiming to be Angel. When she speaks, it's to address Kirk although she's not going to turn her head to do so. If it isn't Angel, and is still Angelus? The break in eye-contact could leave them both dead.]

It...sounds like him. I mean, he sounds soulful. But...

[A few more steps. She's approaching the realm of being within arm-reach.]

I know. Never did like that. [He sees how wary they both are. For good cause, too. Angelus is probably the most dangerous thing in Luceti.]

People are great actors, Buffy.

[ He glanced again at her, ready to grab her arm and pull her back if he needed to. He was sure he could handle herself... but he was protective of his friends. ]

[This is Buffy trying her hardest to look as natural as possible, while still holding onto the longest part of the cross in her pocket. She hopes she doesn't have to drag it out, into service. She hopes and hopes and hopes and--]

Angel[--she proceeds as though convinced and walks much, much closer. If he's Angelus, she has the cross ready. If he's Angel? Well, then she can just as fluidly celebrate. But she has to test it.]

[He averts his gaze as if guilty again. When he looks back, though, his face has shifted. At the same time (or else she'd have a good margin of reaction time), he's lashing out a hand aimed at her throat. Whether or not he successfully grabs it, he says:]

Why do you keep calling me that? [His voice is different now, more dangerous, but still eerily casual.]

[ That was it. Kirk steps forward with his phaser pointed straight at him. He didn't know body language but he knew when voices changed. And that was a bad change. ]

[Oh, she's ready. A few more years living on the Hellmouth after Angelus' first cameo has raised the cynicism in her. Quickly, she whips out the cross and holds directly towards his face.]

You know how the saying goes, Angelus. Fool me once, yadda yadda. Fool me twice? Have a faceful of religiousy torment.

[She doesn't look back, but:] Holding up, back there, Jim?

For a Slayer, you sure aren't very creative. I'm starting to get bored with crosses and stakes. [But he's hanging back now, if that says anything.]
