Wow, this computer just choked on CNN.com. Which, given the headlines, I might have done myself if IE hadn't locked up and made me ForceQuit (my mom's Mac -- ugh).
PATRIOT Act reauthorization? Senate Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter, R-Pa., announced that the negotiating committee had reached an agreement that would extend for four years two of the Patriot Act's most controversial provisions - authorizing roving wiretaps and permitting secret warrants for books, records and other items from businesses, hospitals and organizations such as libraries. Um, excuse me? WTF'gF? Call RUSS FEINGOLD and tell him you support his pledge to filibuster this bullshit.
Ann Coulter telling her audience they're stupid? Um, pot-kettle?
The guy shot yesterday may not have been yelling about a bomb? Uh... very disturbing, if true. I've been kind of out of the loop on this, but if the man was threatening that he had a bomb, running off the plane, not following orders to stop, and then reaching into his bag, well, I think that's probably a justifiable use of force. Incredibly tragic, given his mental health, but justifiable given the circumstances. If, however, he was simply loud and running, without the bomb threat? Um, NO.
The Red Sox traded their shortstop for another third baseman, of which we now have three? And no shortstop. Awesome. ::g::
In other news, I was totally wrong about my fling from the end of law school not passing the bar. This guy, for those who haven't heard the story, wasn't in my original section first year, but I knew him and we became friends when we both made law review second year. And then there was flirting and a very interesting evening. ANYWAY. I looked a bunch of people up to see if they passed the bar, and was shocked to see his name missing from the list of successful applicants.
Except he totally passed, I just FORGOT HIS LAST NAME AND THOUGHT IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE!
This not long after I was relating an anecdote to em_meredith involving a guy I dated in college and was totally unable to remember his first name.
So I'm either a big whore, or I'm senile. ;)
