I'm in Houston today; my mother is being honored as Congregant of the Year at our shul this evening, and Paul flew Adam and me in for it. This was a surprise for my mother. I just realized, more than before, what I miss most about my time in Austin. It's not so much the carefree life I lived when rent was paid for me (thanks, mom!) and my future depended on the first decision I made, not the decisions I'd made years ago.
