We named the baby Emmett, and gave him my dad's first name as his middle name. I'm happy with it!
I had a really nice day on Thursday.
My friend FC came to visit, my first visitor since the baby was born. We sat on the balcony and had such a nice chat. She hugged Emmett while he slept and when he woke up, I breastfed him out there. I'm very pleased that I've managed to breastfeed so far this time.
Then after she left I sat out there while longer. My parents (where we are staying) have a ravine lot with a beautiful view of trees. So many birds came to visit while I was there, and it made me think of my dad who loved bird watching. It was really peaceful and sweet.
Then that evening we all went for a walk (my mom, me, YK, River, Emmett, my sister and brother-in-law).
Then Friday was a trash day. I got hardly any sleep because I had a hard time with Emmett in the night and I was so sleep deprived and cranky.
That's life, I guess.
Today was a nice day, too.
One really neat thing is that my sister found a whole bunch of letters my dad wrote to his grandparents in is 20s and 30s and apparently he typed them on his type writer and kept copies somehow.
We have learned so much about him from the letters. He never really talked about himself to us. It's so neat to have those. Also, it shows he loved snail mail and journalling just like I do!
So that's how things are going.
We're also working on clearing out my parents' house because my mom doesn't want to live here without my dad. There is a LOT of stuff in this house. It's going to take a loooong time. At least there are gems we find along the way, like those letters!
