Facebook caves in (actually, they only compromised)

So Mark Zuckerberg decided that the public outcry over news feeds means that people don't want it to be there. So he made it so that you can take yourself completely off of the feeds. And here's the important one, Noah, pay attention. The reason why Facebook's change prompted so much outrage is because people knew someone would do something if enough people complained, something many don't feel is possible in other aspects of life. True there are more important things to complain about, but people don't think that just complaining is going to help solve those issues. And just complaining is all that many want to do anymore.

Except on Facebook, they didn't just complain, they electronically organized and protested in numbers that would make many activists pee themselves. And for what? The less slutty MySpace. I understand why people do it, Henry, but I don't sympathize with it at all. With some serious shit at stake (as there always is), it's dangerous to give latitude to people's benevolent ignorance.
