So Mark Zuckerberg decided that the public outcry over news feeds means that people don't want it to be there. So he made it so that you can take yourself completely off of the feeds. The problem is that you still are faced with the News Feed upon entering Facebook. Temporary Solutions: don't click "Hide" OR, have your bookmark to facebook be your profile page and not the regular login page.
EDIT You can't actually opt out of the feeds entirely. Facebook will still tell people about all of the following:
* Things you add to your profile,
* Photos you upload or are tagged in,
* Notes you write or are tagged in,
* Groups you join or create,
* Events you create or attend,
* Networks you've joined,
* Status updates
This isn't over yet.
Unrelated Topic #1. I saw loads of NYU kids walking to classes this morning. Friday Classes? Weirdos.
Unrelated Topic #2. Yesterday was 8:30am-9:30pm of computer working. Today will not be like that or else someone (God, I'm looking at you) is going to have to do some explaining.
Unrelated Topic #3. It's funny to consider putting the word God in quotation marks when editing a religious fundamentalist's speech for publication.
And here's the important one, Noah, pay attention. The reason why Facebook's change prompted so much outrage is because people knew someone would do something if enough people complained, something many don't feel is possible in other aspects of life. True there are more important things to complain about, but people don't think that just complaining is going to help solve those issues. And just complaining is all that many want to do anymore.
