Part Two

I turned in my "memoir" short piece assignment (5-7 pages) to be workshopped on Monday. I didn't think it was very good, but yesterday when it was discussed in class it did better than I thought.

I signed up for a credit card on Tues. but only so I could get a free sandwich and drink. Zero's Subs is really good. I don't think the card has come yet. When it does, I just have to not activate it and cut it up and remember how good that sandwich was. I don't think I have any credit, so maybe should get one of those cards soon, but considering how badly I handle cash, I'm not sure plastic would be a good match for me.

The new Beck CD had come out that day, so of course I bought it. I'm now listening to it for the - well I've lost count, but it's probably sad by now. Most of my friends like it to which means I could hear it even more over the past week! He has that same rich voice he had on Sea Change, but a lot of the tracks are the beat driven (welcome back Dust Brothers!) kind of things he used to do on Odelay and Mellow Gold. Guero takes all the old Beck sounds to create a new one and the results are very good. My favorite track right now is "Earthquake Weather" with runners up "Que Onda Guero," "Girl," "Missing," "Rental Car" and "Emergency Exit." Okay I've now named half the album.

Moving on, Wednesday night I met up with Chad and Adam - two Cornerstoners (the nickname Honors House gave to Cornerstone residents last year) both this year and last year at Jimbos (think I-HOP meets creepy late night diner) a short while after work. After the meal we decided to wander aroudn the adjacent county park at 2am. Hugh MacRae Park has a really cool playground. Cooler than anything around when I was a kid, anyway.

My friend Derek, ex-Cornerstoner and fellow Blockbuster employee (only he's at the big one) and Matt (another ex-Cornerstoner) got a house this weekend with two other friends! Drew and I stopped by Thursday night to see it - it's a sprawling four bedroom ranch only the garage got turned into a room and bathroom so it's arguably five bedrooms. It's pretty nice inside too. Of course the house is almost double what my whole house costs, but then we lucked out finding a house this cheap (that whole disrepair thing probably helped drive the rent down at least $100).

They had a massive party on Saturday night, so I went after work. I enjoyed it, but an hour after I arrived I wound up going with Derek to another party by some manager at Derek's Blockbuster. I didn't know anybody except the other Blockbuster people, which was kinda weird, but we weren't there that long before returning to D-Rock's. I've never really hung out with people from work before except when I already knew them before I worked there (Ryan and Keith at Food Lion, for example or Derek). Daylight savings officially occurred while there and I'm still recovering. I love having it be light outside at 8pm, but I'm going to bed way too late according to the clock and not getting up in time.

Sunday I meant to do a bunch of homework, but wasted a lot of my day getting up an hour too late (fuck you EDT!!) and playing Final Fantasy VII, which I'm re-addicted to now. Eric let me borrow some game from him earlier this week called "Star Ocean 2", some PlayStation RPG from 1999 and said I'd probably like. Has anyone out here played it before?

Yesterday was obscenely nice and so is today. Now the ocean just needs to get warmer....
