On the Slayers vs. TOKYOPOP issue

Dec 03, 2005 12:32

I'd suggest for folks to keep an eye on this thread I started over on Anime on DVD.com: http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1214558&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

You can view this thread without logging in to become a member of the board. This forum is visited frequently by TOKYOPOP workers.

The biggest thing regarding it is that Peter Ahlstrom, an editor for TOKYOPOP who has worked on the Slayers novels, stated in another thread relating to the Kindaichi Case Files (or Kindaichi Shounen no Jikenbou) that the current policy still seems to be for nothing to get canceled and, in fact, TOKYOPOP is still releasing Kindaichi - a series that has been acknowledged to have very low sales figures.

No offense to any Kindaichi fans (I'm one myself), but I don't see how that series is doing any better than Slayers. I can easily find copies of the Slayers novels and they are being sold. I hardly ever see Kindaichi on the shelves. That's a slap in the face to Slayers fans to have a series like Kindaichi keep going while we're shut off just as Xelloss tells Lina he will take her to the Claire Bible.
