Watching his small lantern flickering dangerously low as the wind tried to blow it out was the only distraction Heihachi had to avoid falling asleep right then and there. Even while perched on the side of the ship with the threat of falling one hundred feet to his doom wasn’t worrying enough, and every couple of minutes he had to pry his eyelids back open with a sigh ( ... )

Toshirou did his best to ignore Tira's complaints about how cold the dragon was. It was ice, what did the girl expect? Seeing the ship in the distance, he directed Hyorinmaru towards the far side of the 4423 where Heihachi said he'd bee with his lantern.

He'd worry about the consequensces of his actions later, when they were back in the air. Right now, all he had to do was get all this water in the tanks, and try not to draw to much attention to himself. Shouldn't be hard to do, right? Toshirou snorted. Everone on board the ship would most likely panic upon seeing Hyorinmaru coming straight for the ship.

"Get ready to jump when I say so." Toshirou called over his shoulder to Tira.

"Y-y-y-eah!" Tira responded before a little sneeze came from her. She was FREEZING TO DEATH on this ugly little popiscle dragon. Her bare skin getting goosebumps and the corners of her lipstick green lips were turning blue. One thing Tira hated more than anything is the bitter cold, she couldn't believe how relaxed Toshirou is upon this frosty beast.

"S-shit! I-I-I need a jacket!" Tira grumbled as she tried to warm her arms.

From his vantage point, Heihachi could hear the commotion up on the deck. Sound carried well at night, but beyond sending his hasty message to Kambei there wasn't a lot he could do. With his ribs still injured, climbing back down the ladder and then working his way back up to the top of the ship would be too time consuming. In that time someone might get trigger happy and decide to take a shot at the dragon. Heihachi wasn't quite sure if that would actually hurt it or Toshirou, but the best he could hope for was that Kambei would keep everything under control while they got this water in the tanks ( ... )

Maxim had spotted the dragon long before anyone else on the ship and had already been able to make out the shapes of Toshirou and Tira on its back. In fact, he'd already climbed down from the shrouds and raced down the gangplank to meet them.

"HOY! DEY IZ BECK!" He shouted to whomever was within earshot.

Nothing really surprised Maxim anymore so he didn't even think to comment on the dragon.

Frowning slightly Toshirou directed Hyorinmaru around the ship, making the dragon fly lower. Looked like people had spotted them. Well, it really was hard to miss, he silently reflected.

As Hyorinmaru soared through the air, it passed close enough to the ground for Tira to jump off without getting hurt. "Now Tira!" Toshirou yelled at the green haired assassin, before the dragon whipped back around towards Heihachi. It was going to be tricky getting all the water inside the pipe, but it wouldn't be impossible.

"AHHH!" Leaping off the slippery back of the dragon, Tira ungracefully fell to the earth below with a slight thud. Thankfully, the frost dragon did lower itself down to the ground low enough so the girl would not split her head open when she landed on her face…But the clumsy landing was quite embarrassing.

"Fucking DRAGON!" Tira roared in annoyance, growling a bit as she watched it soar past her.

"Shit, my makeup is ruined..." The green hair girl grumbled as she hopped upon her feet, not seemingly to notice that she is already drenched in blood and entrails from her murderous fun earlier.

The dragon wasn't any less intimidating up close, but at this range Heihachi could see Tira's graceless fall from its back and Toshirou still standing quite calmly on its back. His laugh was mostly just a reaction of relief as he waved enthusiastically with the lantern.

"Hey Toshirou-kun!" he called out to the boy. "I'm starting to think we should have warned the crew about this."

Oooh, they were going to be in so much trouble. Heihachi should really have believed Toshirou when he'd said this magic would be hard to miss, but it was a little too late for that now. He backed off from the pipe to give the dragon plenty of space for...whatever it was going to do next.

Seeing Heihachi waving the lantern back and forth, and all the crew nervously running around on the deck, Toshirou decided that now would be a good time to send the water into the pipes. He just hoped none of the crew members got trigger happy. Jumping down beside Heihachi as Hyorinmaru flew over the ship, the young man grabbed the mechanic's arm and pulled him even farther away from the pipe ( ... )

It wasn't wise to argue with the person holding the figurative leash of a giant dragon made of ice. Later on, when he had time to think back on it, he'd concede that even while clinging for dear life of the side of an airship with the overshadowing sense of doom once the Captain or Quatermasters got ahold of them, it was completely worth it to see that beast up close ( ... )

Swearing loudly Hitsugaya gripped his sword tighter as Hyorinmaru fought his control. It didn't want to be forced into the tanks. Gathering the last of his energy, Toshirou shoved, and pushed with his magic. Forcing the dragon to submit to his will and flow into the tanks.

After what seemed like hours, but in reality was only seconds, all the water he'd gathered had been moved into the tanks. Toshirou's arms shook as he lowered his blade, his breath frosting in the air. It had taken more out of him then he'd anticipated.

As soon as the form of the dragon was gone, with only frost in the air to show where it had been, Heihachi scrambled back up to the pipe to close it off properly and stop the small dribble of water that was trying to leak back out. A quick calculation on the size and mass of the dragon - assuming most of it had turned back into water - told him they definitely had enough to get the ship moving again. More than enough, even ( ... )

Toshirou glanced up at Heihachi and nodded. He was more than ready to go back inside. A long nap seemed like a good idea. Not only would it help him to feel better, if he was locked in his room he'd be away from all the rest of the crew and all their questions.

Starting down the ladder, he looked back up at the mechanic. "I'm not apologizing to anyone for what I did. We needed the water and no one else was coming up with any ideas on what to do. Besides, I really don't care if they got scared or not."

"So I figured," Heihachi said, sounding not at all put out by this. "That's why I'll do the apologising...and taking responsibility for the mess."

Considering some of the stories he'd heard about what other members of the crew had gotten away with, he didn't think the punishment could be that bad. As Toshirou started climbing back down to the hatch, Heihachi caught another glimpse of the blood on the boy's back and frowned. "As soon as we're down, let me have a look at those wounds. I picked up some fresh bandages."

He'd needed to for his own injuries, but Toshirou needed them more. At least now they could actually get the ship moving and pick up some fresh supplies, because he didn't think there were any left that other people hadn't already claimed.

Toshirou paused at the hatch, looking up at Heihachi. "I don't want you apologizing for something I've done."

Having forgotten all about the wound on his back Toshirou felt the pain flare across his back all of a sudden. He ducked his head Gorobei's words from several days ago still fresh in his mind. "I'll be fine."

Knowing he should get the wound looked at, the young helmsman decided to prove Gorobei wrong and take care of it himself. "I don't need you babying me all the time, Heihachi-san. I can take care of myself."

Toshirou felt a slight twinge of guilt for speaking to Heihachi like that. The mechanic had only ever been nice to him. But he was bound and determined to probe the dark skinned boatswain wrong.

"I'm apologising for what I've done," Heihachi said, suddenly more serious. "I asked you to do this. I sent you out there and I didn't realise how things were going to turn out, so it's only right that I'm the one to say sorry."

He stared Toshirou down firmly. "And because I'm responsible for your injury, I'm going to treat it for you. That's the least I can do for all the trouble I put you through."

Heihachi could be very persistant when he wanted to be, and he wasn't going to let Toshirou refuse. Exhaused as they both were, Heihachi was pretty sure he could make Toshirou give in first.
