Characters: Ikki and whoever shows up. Content: Ikki is enjoying himself, NOT LIKE THAT, and maybe people stop by? Setting: Downtown Kropmork. Time: Early afternoon. Warnings: Ikki's an idiot, and swearing.
Even without his Byakugan, Neji's eyesight and senses were above average; as such, there was absolutely no chance of him missing the flashy showoff who'd decided the street was too mundane to take a stroll in. To a ninja, on the other hand, he just looked like a... well, like a showoff.
He thought nothing of it, however, too preoccupied in making sure none of the books he'd just purchased from the Archivists' Guild managed to walk out of his possession. It was the kind of thing you took into account in this city, or so he'd heard--at the very least there hadn't been as much uproar over the level of crime in the city as there'd been over the Seamstresses' Guild, of all things. He'd abandoned ship as soon and as often as possible ever since, and from what had been filtering through the halls whenever he did remain onboard for any period of time, that had been a wise choice indeed.
It wasn't until later, when he'd had his fill of the city and was heading to the outskirts of the city to hopefully get away from the bustle and enjoy a tranquil walk back to port, that he spotted the would-be acrobat again. As the road wound past the spot where the other lay, he took a moment to analyze the components of the boy's unusual shoes with his Byakugan--but only a moment, because he had still to practice his kata come evening, and idle curiosity was not to override discipline.
[OOC: You can feel free to mistake him for a girl or something, HAHA. It's the in-thing. 8|]
One eye flicked open as Ikki noticed the presence of another. He mostly noticed that he was being watched, that extra sense that some people had. He managed to notice the CREEPY eyes staring down his Air Trecks for a moment, which almost made Ikki jump back, but instead he just sat up.
"Hey, can I help you or something?" he called out. "Baby, if you're looking for someone to show you a good time then you found the right guy," Ikki's eyes weren't working right at the moment and long hair, girl-ish figure brought Ikki to think that he was being stared at by a cute girl. That and he was just an idiot.
He managed to suppress the reflexive jump at being suddenly addressed; it took him a moment or two longer to register the words that had just apparently been directed at him, and then a halfhearted attempt with the Byakugan to determine if the stranger might be speaking to someone other than himself. But, predictably enough, the area was entirely devoid of females, and the only male within seeing distance was quite distinctly gendered.
Neji stifled a sigh.
"My apologies." He allowed the Byakugan to fade, and studiously smoothed the resigned irritation from his features, picking his words in a quiet voice that was nevertheless definitely masculine (thank you very much). "I happened to spot you taking to the air in... those--a vague gesture at the ATs--and thought I'd take a closer look at them."
Oh shit. Ikki totally could tell it was a male now. And how stupid he felt. Already he'd fallen for this trick way too many times in life, and was starting to hate it. Ikki himself let out a sigh.
"My Air Trecks?" he asked, bending his knees a bit. At the moment they looked like black white and purple low boots, with black wheels. The back wheels were the Bagram, or wheels that could unravel into three of four foot wings that would allow Ikki to ride on air currents. With the Byakugan Neji probably would have been able to notice the wings curled up.
"Guess there's no storm riders here then?" he asked, with a shrug.
Neji fought the urge to roll his eyes at the half-disappointed, half-humiliated look on his companion's face. That particular expression was becoming a little too familiar for comfort, nowadays. Had no one abroad ever met a Hyuuga?
He followed the boy's gaze to his shoes--they looked like ordinary roller boots, now, but under the scrutiny of his Byakugan, they'd revealed the tiny furled wings at the heel. Winged feet; life enjoyed mocking him at the strangest of moments. Even here, on this utterly unplanned jaunt across the continent--his ancestors must hate him even more now than they had, for all he wasn't a true runaway.
"Storm Riders?" No, it wasn't a term he'd heard before--Vohemaro vernacular, perhaps?
Ikki had most definitely never seen a Hyuuga. But he'd seen some amount of men that looked too much like women and was starting to doubt his hot girl-meter. He really ought to get that checked.
"Storm riders, yeah I guess they don't have them out here," Ikki said with a shrug. He was a far way from home, out here in Kropmork, not to mention, something about this boy said Ivona. Not that Ikki cared either way.
"I'm Ikki," the boy said, jumping up to his feet with a push off the ground.
Actually, most of Ivona and Vohemar needed their hot girl-meters checked, in that case.
"What are Storm Riders?" Neji asked resignedly, slightly irritated at the necessity but nevertheless curious. Did they all have winged feet?
He hesitated before introducing himself, uncertain if he wanted to leave too many traces of himself; if he made wrong impressions, it was sure to come up sometime later. The Hyuuga had their own troubles, indeed. "... Neji."
